Not splitting 9's agains a dealer's 9
Having two 9's (18) sounds like a good hand, but you'll be better off if you split because the dealer has a good chance of coming up with a better hand.

Standing on 16 against a dealer's 7
Even if you stand in this case, there's a good chance the dealer will beat you, so take the hit.

Standing on A+6 against a dealer's 7
Same as above. The dealer has a good chance of beating you so take the hit.

Standing on a soft 18 (A + 7)
Again, 18 sound like a good hand, but in reality, there's a strong chance the dealer will beat you. Take the hit.

Taking even money
This sounds like the safe way to go, but you'll make more money in the long run if you don't take even money.

Not hitting on 12
You have a very slim chance of busting when you hit on a 12. Take the hit.

Not splitting 8's on a dealer's strong hand.
16 is never a good hand. Although you might lose both hands, you'll be better of to the take the chance and split.
